Long-distance moving across five provinces.

Residential moves across Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Portage means carrying goods overland between waterways. Our name reflects the work of carrying a household to its next home.

Why we're called Portage

Long before highways crossed this country, people carried their boats and goods overland between lakes and rivers. Those crossings were called portages.

We do a modern version of the same work: carrying a household across the land between one home and the next, and setting it down carefully at the other end.

portagePOR-tij

noun

The carrying of boats or goods overland between two navigable waters.

Common questions

How is a long-distance move priced?

Mostly by the size of the load and the distance. Packing, specialty items and access at either end (stairs, long carries, elevator bookings) can change the total. Your written estimate lists each charge.

How long will my belongings take to arrive?

It depends on the distance and the time of year. We give you a delivery window in writing with your estimate, and a contact to reach while your load is on the road.

Do you move between two cities in the same province?

Yes, as long as it's a long-distance move within Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta or British Columbia. Ask us about your route.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can, especially for the end of the month and the summer. A quote request costs nothing.
